I understand that Tom DeLay had to change his official address to Virginia so he wouldn't appear on the ballot in November. Additionally, without snark, I think that deciding not to run again is a wise choice. Right or wrong, DeLay recognizes that he has come to represent corruption in the party and that he is likely to lose to November. It makes sense to decide not to run again.
However, what I haven't seen explained is why he is ending his term prematurely. Why the need to drop out of the public eye entirely before his term is up? Has anyone read anything about this?
I can't help but think there must be a damn good reason that we don't know about...
