When White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan made this statement yesterday, he was talking specifically of the U.S. ports issue ....

I mean, in hindsight, when you look at this and the coverage that it's received and the false impression that it has left with some, we probably should have briefed members of Congress about it sooner.

.... but he could just as well have been talking about a few dozen, different issues.

Of course, briefing Congress only seems to appeal to this administration when the issue in question might otherwise leave a "false impression" or receive bad "coverage."
