For Those Who Care About Laws 'n' Stuff

It might be on the somewhat geeky side, but a program at the New York City Bar next Thursday evening promises to be interesting to folks who care about the legalities of going to war in Iraq. Phillippe Sands knows his stuff, and he's an English Q.C., which means he speaks well. His views are no secret -- his latest book is called Lawless World: America and the Making and Breaking of Global Rules: From FDR's Atlantic Charter to George W. Bush's Illegal War -- but the panel discussion should be thought-provoking. As a member of the City Bar, I can assure you that non-lawyers are very welcome and often attend events like this in large numbers.

The City Bar building is a couple of blocks from Grand Central, at 42 W. 44th St. The program is on January 12 at 6:30.
