McClellan and His Boss Seem to Disagree

According to the Associated Press:
While President Bush and top aides have emphasized the nominee’s evangelical faith in recent days, (White House Press Secretary Scott) McClellan told reporters (Thursday) in a heated exchange: “You all want to focus on side issues like religion.”
Uh, Scott, if you believe that religion is a side issue, you might want to share this view with your boss -- y'know, the man who, only the day before, told reporters this:
“People are interested to know why I picked Harriet Miers. They want to know Harriet Miers’ background. They want to know as much as they possibly can before they form opinions. And part of Harriet Miers’ life is her religion.”
