Schiavo's Epilogue

Terri Schiavo's autopsy report reveals quite a few sad medical facts. She had "massive and irreversible brain damange" (her brain was half the size of an average adult brain), she was completely blind, couldn't eat or drink, and that there is no evidence of any abuse. Unfortunately there also is no evidence of her having an eating disorder or a heart attack, which leaves the mystery of the onset of her condition intact. But it does confirm what her doctors and her husband had been saying all along but it raises one new fact-- she couldn't see. As pointed out by Kevin Drum and others, after Dr. "kittenkiller" Frist's diagnosis-by-videotape he stated "she certainly seems to respond to visual stimuli." Not that I expect Frist to admit to feeling foolish about this, but he should.

Everything to say about this case has already been said. I hope that her family finds peace.
