Better Yet, Let's Start Counting at 8

Byron York has a new piece on yet another potential compromise on the filibuster in which he makes the following point
It is important to remember that Democrats already have killed three nominations. Miguel Estrada, Carolyn Kuhl, and Charles Pickering, all filibustered, all chose not to be renominated for their positions. Estrada and Kuhl apparently had enough of the process. Pickering was given a brief recess appointment to the bench but chose to retire rather than face a new confirmation fight. Any count of Republican concessions to Democrats would begin with the number three.
Fair enough. But to be entirely fair, let us take a look at some of the Clinton nominees who withdrew their nominations
Charles Stack: Withdrew due to opposition from Sen. Dole

John D. Snodgrass: Withdrew because of the long delay/inaction on his nomination

Leland M. Shurin: Withdrew because of the long delay/inaction on his nomination

John H. Bingler, Jr: Withdrew due to opposition from Sen. Santorum

Bruce W. Greer: Withdrew because of the long delay/inaction on his nomination

Michael D. Schattman: Withdrew due to opposition from Sen. Gramm

Frederica Massiah-Jackson: Withdrew due to opposition from various Republicans

Gail S. Tusan: Withdrew because of the long delay/inaction on her nomination
So if we are going to count the three Republican "concessions" we should also count these eight Democratic "concessions."

The GOP still owes the Dems five more concessions just take make things even.
