Demagogue

It's very early in the week, but there's already a frontrunner for the Spinmeister of the Week award. But I can't quite tell when this item was posted on the website of the Capitol Hill Prayer Alert -- PrayerAlert.org.

This Religious Right site urges its supporters to pray for House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. In the course of explaining why the World's Biggest Asshole is in need of Christian prayers, PrayerAlert.org offered this interesting take:

DeLay is hated by liberals because his hugely successfully fundraising campaigns have helped Christian and conservative candidates and causes. Since he employs creative fundraising tools and has relationships with numerous charitable groups, DeLay has faced ceaseless scrutiny from Common Cause, People for the American Way and others.

So that's what they were -- "creative fundraising tools."

The home page of PrayerAlert.org declares: "Desperate Prayer for Desperate Times!"

Desperate would definitely be the right word.
