Study Shatters Myth About Volunteerism

I work for a non-profit organization whose work depends on recruiting member-volunteers. And I've grown used to hearing some of our (older) leaders shrug their shoulders and complain that voluntarism "isn't what it used to be" in America.

They're right. It's getting better.

A newly released federal study shows that volunteering has reached a 30-year high in the United States. And the gloomy assessments many of us have heard about younger generations just not been "volunteers" aren't borne out by the research.

According to the research director of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the "emerging studies consistently show increased volunteering by young Americans."
