Demagogue

In his most recent column, conservative columnist Robert Novak makes it clear that big corporate donors hold a lot of leverage over the GOP Congress. Speaking of a congressional bill that would continue "some 40 expiring corporate tax breaks," Novak warns his favorite political party of the consequences unless they pass this bill quickly:

Unless it is passed by the Sept. 15 tax deadline, many corporations must restate their earnings -- antagonizing executives even as Republicans dun them for 2006 campaign contributions.

Nothing subtle about that.
