Demagogue

I can't believe I just sat through the preliminaries for Eurovision. This spect(deb)acle was just to fill out the field for Saturday's final. About half of the 24 spots in the finals were already taken--maybe I missed a similar event last night. So I spoke too soon. The Netherlands once again failed to qualify for the final. The buxom Ukrainian made it (surprise), as did the postmodern Lithuanians. The heavy metal entry from Finland is really something to behold--outstanding monster make-up, guitars that shoot fire, the works--though I don't imagine they stand much chance in a contest that's really about pop.

Please, anyone who knows me, if you see me on Saturday, don't let me go near a television.
