It is morally wrong for people to live in fear of any government agency."If Senator Lott and other Republicans truly believe it is morally wrong for people to fear the IRS, then I suppose the Senator's office will release a statement at any moment assailing GOP Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas for trying to use the IRS as a political weapon to silence certain Americans.
On the other hand, it's possible that Lott simply left out a word in his original '98 remarks. Perhaps he meant to say that Republicans believe it is "morally wrong for rich people to live in fear" of the IRS.
