Freedom Is Slavery, Disorder Is Progress

POINT

On Wednesday, President Bush declared:

"I just finished an important meeting, a briefing with members of my national security team ... to make sure that my team understood the progress we've made and the challenges ahead ... In Iraq, 2005 was a year of progress toward meeting our goal of victory."

COUNTERPOINT

Since dead people can't be quoted, I'll let this photo from Thursday's violence speak for the opposing view. In one of the deadliest days since the U.S. invaded Iraq, multiple bombs killed at least 130 Iraqis and seven American soldiers. It's one thing for the White House to say the U.S. military presence is still necessary, but it's a whole 'nother thing to call mayhem and murder "progress."
