Katha Pollitt is
her usual cogent self in arguing against the "liberals would be better off if
Roe v. Wade were overruled and abortion became a legislative issue again" position. Whether she's right or wrong about the politics and the likely sequel to an overruling, I think that as a
legal matter
Roe was wrongly decided.
But I've really got to hand it to Pollitt for this rhetorical gem. She says that if
Roe goes,
We will have a country in which the same legislature that can't prevent some clod from burning a flag will be able to force a woman to bear a child under whatever circumstances it sees fit.
