High Profile, Low Profile Gigs

Of all the relatively low profile positions former President Bill Clinton could have taken, I am a bit confused as to why he chose this one
Former president Bill Clinton will spend at least two years in his new role as the top U.N. envoy promoting recovery in tsunami-hit countries and demanding accountability for the unprecedented billions of dollars donated by countries and individuals, his deputy said.
Given my intense dislike for the man, perhaps I am simply being unfair when I suspect that the billions in donations and high-profile nature of the initial tragedy probably had to lot to do with Clinton's decision to take this position.

Bitter as I am, I can't help but think that the world would have been better served had Clinton chosen to become a UN envoy to Darfur instead. His stature would have helped raised consciousness of the genocide and - more importantly - it might help him redeem himself for his unforgivable response to the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

(On that note, the Daily Darfur is up on the coalition blog.)
