From time to time, life is presented with great ironies. Like this one: On Monday in Rome, after hearing a defiant sermon from Cardinal Ratzinger urging his peers to reject "relativism" and continue to embrace a strict, moral orthodoxy, the conclave of cardinals gathered to elect a new pope -- shutting themselves inside a majestic room whose most famous paintings were created by a man who is widely believed to have been gay.
